This page has images of what I believed to be Piedmont Ringlet. There are a few reasons why I thought so although it would seem to be late in mid September. They were in a sunny corner near Loubaresse, c1000m, up on the Ardeche scarp.
Happily Roger Gibbons agreed with me writing " the band doesn't look tapered at the base (=Autumn) and the ocelli in s4 and s5 look large and right for Piedmont. Also the small off-centre ocellus in s6 is indicative of Piedmont." Sorted I thought.
Further reflection however on his part, particularly on the date, and the decision of those who know is that the images are not Piedmont Ringlet but Autumn Ringlet. I leave the images here to remind me how difficult therse things can be!
